Michigan's Ongoing Fiscal Crisis:  Six Years and Counting

The state's fiscal crisis, now in its sixth year, shows no signs of abating.  Revenues continue to fall short of projections, the state's fiscal reserves have been depleted, and nearly $3 billion has been cut from state programs and services.

This Public Policy Forum will provide an overview of the Fiscal Year 2006 Executive Budget, highlighting the measures taken to address the continued gap between revenues and expenditures.  Perspectives will be offered on the impact of the state's structural deficit on state programs and services, and solutions for addressing the deficit and ensuring and adequate revenue base for the future.
