New Report! Community Solutions Toolkit & Resource Guide for Juvenile Justice Programs
MCCD has published its first edition of the Community Solutions Toolkit and Resource Guide. This action-oriented document and accompanying interactive website intends to help Michigan counties, service providers, and juvenile justice stakeholders develop and enhance their array of in-home and community-based programs.
The Toolkit provides an overview of proven evidence-based practices and tools that can be applied when implementing risk assessments, community-based programs, and evaluations.
The Resource Guide provides an extensive list of state and national resources to assist with implementation of evidence-based practices.
Users are encouraged to reference and tailor the tools and resources found in the following pages in a way that best meets their own diverse and specific needs.
Community Solutions is also meant to help those rural Michigan counties who are applying for the newly created In-Home Community Care Grant housed in the Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS). This Grant, which is available due to a Fiscal Year 2014 DHS budget allocation, will provide at least 4 awards of up to $250 thousand dollars to rural counties that implement or enhance existing evidence-based community services for juvenile justice youth. Eligible counties are encouraged to apply in coordination with other rural counties, urban counties, universities, private juvenile justice agencies, or local state agencies to create a regional effect.
